Rhonda Clerkin

Executive Director

Rhonda is a versatile artist and designer who combines graphic design, crafting, collage, and painting to uncover beauty in the everyday.  A graduate of Grinnell College, and originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rhonda has lived in various states, including Ohio, Iowa, Delaware, Indiana, and North Carolina. Now based at her studio at theArtWorks™ in Wilmington, NC, her business, Sea Pine Art & Design, offers original artwork, web and print design, publishing services, and handcrafted decor. Having been involved with various nonprofit organizations, starting Cape Fear artXchange has been a life-long dream for Rhonda.

Chris Prentice

Board Chair

Chris is a Professor at UNCW where he also directs the Center for Social Impact. He frequently collaborates with community organizations and government agencies in the Cape Fear region and has served on several nonprofit boards. Chris and his wife Lauren have lived in Wilmington for 12 years and share two lovely kids – Cooper and Olivia.


Erika Tully

Vice Chair

Erika is passionate about re-purposing. The art that she creates is made from re-purposed canvases and neckties.She also incorporates some pieces of broken jewelry. Erika has an art studio at theArtWorks™ in Wilmington, NC. Erika operates a business called Eclectic Dandelion. She hosts Jigsaw puzzle competitions, sip and paint parties and teaches classes such as: mosaic tiling, soap casting and cork creations. In her spare time she paints with her horse by taping a carrot to his brush and holding a canvas for him. She enjoys riding him, as well. Yoga is a part of her daily routine. Another passion for Erika is collecting foam (aka Styrofoam) and recycling it at UNCW where they melt it down for use as construction materials or picture frames.

Kathleen has been a versatile professional artist since her teens, she simply must create to keep sane. Born and raised in Southern California, she has also lived in MO, NV, MA, MN, and ID. She also lived in an RV full time on the road between San Diego and Wilmington for 2 1/2 years before settling in Wilmington 15+ years ago. She opened her studio in theArtWorks™ in 2024 and has enjoyed the interactions with the public and the other artists. When Rhonda approached her with the idea of the Cape Fear artXchange, Kathleen absolutely wanted to be a part of it!
